As announced by Arctablet a few days ago, Archos is planning to launch a new phablet model – the 62 Xenon. Unfortunately, the new model doesn’t offer much more than the 64 Xenon which was announced around the same time last year. We can still find the MediaTek MT6582 CPU, 1280×720 resolution screen, 1GB of RAM and 8 Mpx camera on the back.

62xenon-nowrmkThe operating system, Android 4.4 Kit-Kat, also dates from 2013. On the positive note, the 62 Xenon features a nice looking design and is only 8mm thick.

With the latest Archos announcements dating from a few weeks ago, it is now time for a new bunch of Chinese rebrands of our beloved manufacturer. And this time not all of them run on Android. ;)

Archos Baretype Phones

Let’s start with a new range of the dumbphones from Archos that suddenly showed up online. The Baretype name refers to the “bar type” type of phones. Archos will launch three versions, all of them retailing for less than 30EUR.

Stepping up, Archos is preparing another bunch of Mediatek MT6582 phones. Archos 52 Platinum is one of the devices to be powered by that SoC. This 5.25 inch device will come with 1.3 Ghz Quad Core CPU, 1GB RAM, 1280×700 pixels IPS screen, 8GB of flash storage and Android 4.4.2. The RRP is expected to be around 149EUR.

52platinum-nowrmk

Actually, the 52 Platinum features quite an attractive design.

52platinum

Another MT6582 device is the 59 Xenon that was shown at CES in January. The 59 Xenon will come with 1.3Ghz CPU, 5.9 inch screen with 720p resolution, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.4 and will retail for 129EUR. A bigger brother with 6.2 inch screen is also in the pipeline. The 62 Xenon will feature the same CPU and the resolution and will come with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 8 and 5 MPx cameras, 2400 mAh battery and Android 4.4.

Anything else? Yes, Archos 50 Oxygen Plus with Mediatek MT6592 CPU is on the way. Despite the Lollipop home button, the device will ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Inside there is the 5 inch screen with 1280×720 resolution, 1.4Ghz octa-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of flash storage and an 8 Mpx camera. The 50 Oxygen Plus is only 7.2mm thin and weighs 125 grams. It should retail for 199EUR.

archos50plus-nowrmk

Tablets

With Archos being in the market for affordable tablets, it looks like the things are not going to change. A remarkable thing is that Archos will reuse the Titanium range and is planning to launch the 70c Titanium – a 7 inch tablet with outdated RK3026 CPU and Android 4.4.4. Slightly higher-end, 7 inch 70 Platinum might be in the pipeline. Speaking of 7 inch tablets, what is your opinion about Archos 70 Copper in blue?

archos-copper-70-blue-a-mobilenetwork.it

Another thing, while Archos 101 Oxygen is yet not shipping, Archos is preparing a rebrand of the Pipo P7 which will be called the Archos 94 Oxygen HD. Here is how the P7 looks like:

PIPO_P7While Pipo P7 is a nice tablet – by the time that Archos releases the 94 Oxygen, the tablets from other manufacturers will probably be able to fly to Mars.

One more thing…

No Archos Music application on new Archos devices anymore.

It looks like ARCHOS is not yet done with releasing new models to the market. Just a week ago, we were informed by our sources that the Neon range would be updated with 45 Neon and 50b Neon smartphones and this week, we were able to find evidence on the web. Both smartphones will sport a rather old MediaTek MT6582 CPU, 512MB of RAM, Android 4.4.2 Kit-Kat and displays with resolutions of 854×480 pixels. The 45 Neon should also feature quite an impressive battery capacity of 3000 mAh. Here is the image of the 45 Neon:

archos45neon-nowrmk

On the render, the 45 Neon looks confusing featuring a physical home button and some spot below the camera on the back. So far, we have no idea what it might be. Anyways, the 45 and 50b Neon should hit the market in February 2015 for around 89 and 99 respectively.

With 2014 being the year of all kind of connected objects, more and more companies are introducing their smartwatches. As a forum post on the official PiPo forum shows, the Chinese company is also preparing one. What makes it special is its expected price with PiPo aiming for a price of just 119 yuan, around 16.

pipo-smw-1The smartwatch comes with all kind of interesting features. This smartband alike shaped bracelet comes with a motion detector, energy consumption monitoring, sleep monitoring, UV detection, ambient temperature sensor and also call / SMS alerts, music playback controls and other rich features.

pipo-smw-2From the smartband, you will not only be able to control your sleep, but also be able to easily control the mobile music player, without having to get your phone out of the bag.

pipo-smw-3Unfortunately, for now no details are known about the hardware that’s inside, the battery life and availability information. Still, we believe it is an interesting development and hopefully, we will get to know more soon. ;)

Introducing smartphones running on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, Archos is also not forgetting the 4G-enabled models. Next to the higher-end ARCHOS 50 Diamond, Archos 50b and 45b Helium 4G will be introduced on the market. Both models are slightly upgraded versions of the original Helium phones and come with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU, support for Dual-Sim and Android 4.4.4 Kit-Kat.  The 45b should hit the market in second part of december for 99, while the 50b Helium is also expected around the same time for 149.

Next to the 40 Cesium smartphone, Archos is also preparing a tablet on Windows 8 operating system. While the 40 Cesium is now shipping for 79€, the 80 Cesium will hit the European market only in December, for a price of 119.99€. Let’s have a closer look on what Archos is going to offer.

archos-80cesiumInside the 80 Cesium, there is a quad-core CPU from Intel, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of Flash storage which is expandable via microSD. It is a decent-looking 8-inch tablet running Windows 8.1 and is only 8.6mm thin. Unfortunately, the battery capacity of 3000 mAh will deliver just a few hours of usage until the charger has to be plugged in again.

Announced to arrive by summer about eight months ago, the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the ARCHOS  45/50 Helium  and ARCHOS 50c Oxygen phones tablets is no more, as the vendor has mentioned yesterday on their Facebook that there won’t be any KitKat updates for the current range of Helium and Oxygen devices.

archosheliumnokitkat

Here are the official words from ARCHOS Worldwide Facebook(in French):

archosnokitkat-nowrmkThe reasons for suddenly cancelling the update plans are not given. Shame that that on the same Facebook account, KitKat was promised to arrive in a few weeks just one month ago:

archosnokitkat-2-nowrmkInstead of offering the KitKat update, Archos is now advising users to buy the updated “B” phones from the Helium range in order to take advantage of the KitKat OS. That is quite ridiculous, taking in the account that the 45b and 50b Helium only differ from the original models by having slightly faster CPU (Snapdragon 410 instead of Snapdragon 400) and support for Dual-Sim. The 45b Helium is even a cut-down version of the original 45 with having 512MB of RAM less.

45bhelium-nowrmk

The resulting situation gives the impression that Archos does not take its customers seriously. The latest firmware updates for the Oxygen and Helium phones date from June, barely three months after the release. The users that bought the Helium and Oxygen phones keeping in mind the 4.4 update are now left empty handed. The question is, will the story be the same for 50 Diamond, the flagship killer from Archos to arrive at beginning of 2015 with the Lollipop update?

While at first we thought it was cancelled, it now looks like Archos is preparing the 35b Titanium for release towards end of November/beginning December. Does the 35b Titanium offer something interesting? Well, it comes with a dual-core processor and runs Android 4.4 KitKat, has both front and back cameras as well as dual sim support, making it quite an attractive option for people looking for a compact smartphone that do not want to spend much. The 35b Titanium should be available for 59€.

After releasing the 50 Diamond 4G yesterday, Archos today introduced a bunch of tablets in the Elements range. Revealed by Arctablet weeks ago, Archos 70c Cobalt is now added to the Cobalt range. In the Neon range, we already leaked the 101c Neon and today, 90b Neon and 101b Neon were added to the line-up.  The Xenon range is updated with 70b Xenon and 80b Xenon models, also covered by Arctablet some time ago. While the new models are not a big surprise, let’s give them a quick look. ;)

Archos 70c Cobalt

archos_70ccobalt-2

Archos 70c Cobalt is the cheapest tablet from Archos being offered for just 59.99€ in Archos store. It features:

  • 7” multi-touch capacitive display with 1024×600 resolution, 512MB RAM
  • Android 4.4.4 Operating system
  • Powered by Dual-Core Rockchip CPU Cortex A9 @ 1 GHz
  • Google™ certified with access to Google Play™ and over 1 million apps & Archos Multimedia applications
  • 8 GB flash memory with an expandable Micro SD Slot
  • 2500 mAh battery

Archos 70b Xenon

archos_70bxenon_intro

Selling at 79€, the 70b Xenon is actually not much different from the Archos 70 Copper with the addition of the IPS screen being the only difference.

  • Stay connected anywhere thanks to built-in H+/3G+ (voice and data) & Wifi
  • 7” IPS screen with 1024×600 resolution
  • Dual SIM, un-SIM-locked, flexibility to use SIM-cards of any provider
  • Android 4.4.4 Operating system
  • Google™ certified, full access to Google Play™ Store and over 1 million apps
  • MediaTek Dual Core CPU
  • Dual camera
  • 2800 mAh battery

Archos 90b Neon

archos_90bneon_intro

For 99€, the Neon line-up is in sight with the 90b Neon being the smallest one of the new models.

  • Quad-core Allwinner CPU ARM Cortex A9 @ 1.2 GHz & Quad-core GPU
  • 512MB RAM
  • 9” capacitive multi-touch screen TN with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution
  • Google™ certified and Android™ 4.4 with access to Google Play™ Store
  • A premium multimedia experience, thanks to ARCHOS applications
  • 8 GB flash memory combined with microSD expandable storage
  • 4000 mAh battery

Archos 101b Neon

archos_101bneon_intro

Also selling for 99€, the 101b Neon tablet is slightly larger than the 90b, offers a Rockchip CPU instead of the Allwinner one and comes with 1GB RAM instead of 512MB.

  • Quad-core Rokchip CPU ARM Cortex A9 @ 1.4 GHz & Quad-core GPU
  • 10.1” capacitive multi-touch TN screen with 1024 x 600 pixels
  • Google™ certified and Android™ 4.4 with full access to Google Play™ Store
  • A premium multimedia experience thanks to ARCHOS applications
  • 8GB flash memory combined with micro-SD expandable storage
  • 5000 mAh

Archos 80b Xenon

archos_80bxenon_intro

If you ask us, the 80b Xenon is offered a little bit too expensive. Still, for 149€ you get a well-balanced 3G enabled device(we have to say that the battery capacity is really low for a 3G tablet) which offers the following:

  • Stay connected anywhere thanks to built-in H+/3G+ (voice and data) & Wifi
  • Vibrant IPS screen with 1280×800 resolution
  • Dual SIM, un-SIM-locked, flexibility to use SIM-cards of any provider
  • Quad-core MediaTek processor & 1GB RAM
  • Android 4.4.4 Opetating system
  • Google™ certified, full access to Google Play™ Store and over 1 million apps
  • Dual camera
  • 3600 mAh

All models are now visible on Archos store, but some of them will only start shipping in November.

Following the teaser on monday and our revealing of the new smartphone, today Archos officially announced its new 4G-enabled 199.99 smartphone. As expected by Arctablet, a photo from our colleagues from ArchosLounge.net shows that the 50 Diamond is a rebrand of the K-Touch Touch 7. Still, Archos is the first to announce a 4G smartphone with eight cores SoC at a price of 199.99€. The only thing is that the 50 Diamond will only hit the market early 2015 and at that time, we might see simillar solutions from other brands.

archos-50diamond-nowrmk

Anyways, the Archos 50 Diamond has mid to high-end specifications with a five inch FHD IPS screen giving it a density of 440 dpi and the new 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octo-core CPU. Connectivity wise, the smartphone sports the 4G category 4 giving access to download speeds up to 150Mbps.

ARCHOS-50-Diamond

In addition to its attractive main features, the Archos 50 Diamond also features:
- 16 GB of internal storage and 2 GB of RAM
16 MP rear camera with auto focus and flash, front camera of 8 MP
2700 mAh battery and wireless charging
Dual Active SIM and micro SD card slot up to 64 GB
– Archos Multimedia applications including the reknown Video Player

Images of the K-Touch Touch 7 can be seen here and here are the full tech specs for those that are just as excited as we are. :)

One more thing…

By making use of the occasion, we would like to leak out another Archos smartphone that will be available by the end of 2014 for half the price – the Archos 45b Helium 4G. The Archos 45b Helium 4G is a slightly upgraded version of the original 45 Helium and comes with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU, support for Dual-Sim and Android 4.4.4 Kit-Kat. As you can see this smart phone has larger screen so you are able to play most popular free slot machine games from this website http://www.letsplayslots.com/ .Have a go at plaything those free slot machine games to compare the screen size. Unfortunately, the new model comes with just 512MB of RAM, probably to cut down production costs. Still, for 99, the 45b Helium should be a great deal. Wiko, it’s your turn now. ;)
