ArcTools has been updated to 0.32 you can download it here or directly from Appslib on your tablet.
This new release brings some minor user interface enhancements and a fullyΒ functionalΒ Market 2.2.7, thanks to kenyu73 and Sergej63.
For the new Market you need to choose “Default Apps & Market v2.2.7” download in ArcTools application.
ArcTools Tutorial available here
After installing ArcTools, when you have the Market running, if you are missing some applications in the Market (for example Google Maps, Youtube, …) there is a fix that should correct the problem and give you full access to Market applications.
Enjoy and Merry Christmas everyone !
Note: If your tablet still runs on Eclair (firmware 1.0.84 /Android 2.1-update 1) and you need Arctools to support it, please post a comment on this article, we may include support for Eclair if there is enough demand.
Still have Eclair (firmware 1.0.84 /Android 2.1-update 1).
Can you give support?
Thanks…
new version 3.2 not 2.bla2…..just fllow the step>>>and u will find v3.2 dowload and install and reboot……now my archos 101 have new market…..easy man…..
When I try to install “Default Apps & Market (Android 2.1-ECLAIR)” always result with “Error 20:Error al copiar archivos). The tablet is an Arnova 8, Firmware 1.0.3
ΒΏCould you help me with the installation?
Thanks.
Current Arctools application does not support the Arnova 8 for Market installation feature. A custom firmware will be released in few days to make it compatible, stay tuned.
Thanks
okay i couldn’t get the market to run, it just keeps on opening and closing quickly same as gmail to but maps worked fine ? . so i went back to gapps4archos2(froyo) knowing that YouTube didnt work at all. but i used the arctool 0.46 to remove it(YouTube apk) and then download the working one off of market place to make it work. i have market , gmail, calendar etc all working and trust me i have tried all the other ways with no luck at all. so with the latest firmware by archos 2.1.8 and gapps4archos2(froyo) combine with arctool 0.46 i have a complete working system to my liking

btw i got archos7HT
In that case, that’s normal π Unfortunately Archos 7 HT and device before generation 8 models aren’t supported for the moment.
We’ll make it more clear in the documentation as we have many users with similar request.
Hopefully, we’ll be able to support Gen6 and 7 models (including 7 HT) soon.
oke thanks if you get it working on A7HT let me know through email please. you can use my mail for that.
Will do, but it’s not a bad idea to visit the Blog regurlarly, there may be some interesting news for you π
i will btw it works perfectly on archos 28;) you people are genius. thanks.
i cant download marketplace i get error 25: file copy failed archive file cant be opened. see if you machine isnt ateched to the usb port.
Which tablet model are you using ? Are you connected to a computer thru USB ?
I have the same problem when trying installing arctools (with the marketplace): ‘error 25: file copy failed archive file cant be opened. see if you machine isnt ateched to the usb port.’
My device is the Archos 70b ereader and he isn’t connected to a computer thru USB.
I don’t use a SD-card, is that maybe the problem?
LeenLief,
Clarifying one more time: ArcTools “Market installing” feature cannot be used on Archos 7 HT models (v1/v2/c) or Archos eReaders. You should use a custom firmware (if it exists on these models).
OK, sorry for the miscommunication! I found this page, I think this is a custom firmware for the Archos 70b ereader http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?p=2294646 but it is in Spanish (I tried to translate it with Google translate) and to complicated for me. Can someone here help me with intalling this filmware?
LeenLief,,=
We will try to test this method and make a step by step article on installing this custom firmware. Will be done hopefully by next week.
Regards,
Thank you! I look forward to it!
Awww ok. Thank you!!!
THANK YOU!!!
Ok, I must have a different O.S. verision I just purchased my Archos 7 yesterday. So first when I goto Settings I do not see repair and formatting. second when I access Appslip it does not find ArcTools
Oops, ArcTools (or gAppsInstaller) won’t work on Archos 7, sorry I did not see you had this model. ArcTools is made for Archos Gen8 Internet Tablet devices, your Archos 7 is from previous generation. You could check here: http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=34668
This doesnt work for me, my a7ht downloads that image as .txt do i have to download on pc and copy it to the tablet?
And how does it work? Opening the image when downloaded will start an update?
@admin. So do the ArcTools direct download for eclair
Make sure your device is connected to Internet, download and install ArcTools thru Appslib following the tutorial.
http://www.arctablet.com/blog/archos-tablet/tutorial-using-arctools-google-apps-and-market-installer-for-archos-gen8-internet-tablet-101-70-43-32-28/
After starting ArcTools, it should offer you the package “Default Apps & Market (Android 2.1-ECLAIR)” in the listbox from the Install Apps tab.
Follow the tutorial and you should be fine π
I just purchased a Archos 7 on the box it said Eclair 2.1. Installed aApps4Archos. I got an error message saying “cannot not install. For eclair.
Please help.
gAppsInstaller is not made for Eclair firmware. We recommend to use ArcTools that supports it.
Is ther an apk that can be installed without a reset? I have the market installed with the first apk that was issued, but I would like the new market version.
Update:
I reinitialized the tablet. Installed Arctool 0.32, downloaded market 2.2.7, installed and rebooted. Market initially didn’t say version 2.2.7 from Application. But I think it automatically updated, it is now 2.2.7. All is well, everything looks good, thanks!!
Goody π The device reset is really a must to avoid problems, the tutorial has been updated.
Regarding the market version, it isn’t at 2.2.7 after installation, but the quick update to 2.2.7 process is normal.
The release notes or tutorial will be documented to reflect that.
So as suggested i did reset well sort of, i elected Option 2 as I’m not ready to reset my whole tablet. I cleared data, upgraded to 0.32, removed old market, rebooted, installed new market, rebooted. Still failed. without removing market, I downloaded and installed old market, reboot and it works fine. I might try Option 1 later but got to back my data up. thanks and Merry Christmas!
I installed the 0.31 version downloaded market n it works great. I was able to launch 0.31 without downloading 0.32 and download the new market (2.2.7). After installation, the market wont’ start. So clicking on the market icon after reboot, it would launch, show white screen and goes back to android screen, so in essence it crashed. I’ve got the latst firmware from Archos as well. Am I the only one? any hints? Thanks for this great site!
Sev,
If possible, you should reinitialize your tablet (check our tutorial) before installing and running ArcTools.
Not doing it leaves previous Market installation and configuration data that create issues most of the time.
Please keep us posted about your results π
Cheers,
Merry Xmas,
Root tab is for root related functions (getting root access, cpu clock changes, swapfile,…)
This was partially working (temporary root) on previous firmware (2.0.54) but does not work anymore with 2.0.71. So it’s work in progress for the moment…
hi, i use kenyu73 version 4 apk, how to swap it for yours? removing the old and installing yours? advantages, other than having latest market? and, eventually, how to have the media scanning update fix, without reinstalling all stuff? Thanks π
Hello,
If you are satisfied with gAppsInstaller, there is no need to use ArcTools for market installing functions.
Still you can install ArcTools without reseting your device and use its other possibilities, not offered by gAppsInstaller
That is:
– application removal
– media scanning functions (a quick tutorial is documented here http://www.arctablet.com/blog/archos-tablet/optimizing-your-media-library-indexing-with-arctools/ ).
Merry Xmas π
thanks π
link points to a “Error 404 – Not Found” page…
is there a way to apply those fixes without installing your apk?
and, in case, i need to remove kenyu before installing yours, or it can be applied above his one?
merry xmas to you, too π
ah, removing trailinl “)” and link works… π
Sorry about the 404, the link editor did include the closing ) as part of the link, it’s corrected in my comment.
The media library optimizer is not really a fix, but a configuration tool, where *YOU* specify which directory and media types should be indexed.
You can install ArcTools just for this function without any need to reset or device or remove gAppsInstaller.
wow, what’s ROOT tab??? π
p.s.: i commented on the other post π
