Hmmm — it didn’t work. I downloaded to my PC, and then followed the instructions to load via USB into the main directory of the Arnova. When I disconnected, it did NOT offer to upgrade the OS. I re-booted the Arnova, but it still showed v4.0.3 in the About Tablet setting.
Moving to Explorer, I found the file, but when I tried to open it directly I got a Parsing Error message.
What now? It’s not impossible that the download to the PC may have been a bit iffy, as we have tin-can-&-string broadband out here on the moors, and I used the link for other browsing during download. Do you think I should try downloading again?

This firmware will only work on Archos Gen9 models (101G9 & 80G9). Which device are you trying to install it on?
Oops — I may have been reading the digits in the wrong order. This is an Archos 9G3… I was mis-reading the G9 bit.
Thanks for putting me right.
