We found interesting to run some sound tests to complete our existing multimedia capabilities and audio compatibility tests on the Archos 101 G9.
Stereo sound
The Archos 101 G9 device has a single speaker hole, located in the back of the case.
There may be 2 speakers at this location, but we did not feel much stereo channel separation during our test playback.
The video below shows the sound of the speakers, on the left and right chanels, with the device facing us and from the back of the device. The location of the speaker does not give optimal sound projection but the result is loud enough for most uses.
Our video shows a quick comparison with the Asus Transformer TF101 that has 2 separated speakers located on the side of the device, which give a lot better channel separation.
Sound quality
It is quite hard to figure out precisely the sound quality on a video such as our Youtube posted above, but we have tried to record the music played (on non compressed FLAC files) with a quality sound recorder. We found the sound quality to be correct, quite clear, but with limited some bass levels.

I searched much before to buy my Archos 70. I chose for its stereo speakers and mainly by the location of these. I want to upgrade to a device G9, but I see that you have degraded the sound system.

How can you downgrade a product like this[i speak to archos ofc]. Gen 8 got 2 fucking nice speakers with such a diversity that could make you cry of joy. And now you squeezed 2 speakers in 3 cm^2. Thats a shame.
